Things are crazy hectic at the Avindy studio these days. We might actually be busier than we’ve ever been, getting tons of orders ready to go out — 50 pieces here, a shipment of 500 there. It gives the loft that nice buzz that comes with everyone being happy and busy.
This week, we’re heading to Africa, which is always an excellent source of both inspiration and material. Our work has always been very influenced by Africa and our time living there, particularly intricate African beadwork. Its vibrancy and mix of colors — not to mention its seed beads — show up in a lot of our pieces.

So we’re hoping to come back with fresh ideas, and maybe some great finds in the form of unusual gems and other pieces.

Today, July 21st, is our beloved Cat’s birthday! We had the pleasure of all dining outside in the beautiful Atlanta weather while feasting our bellies with Figo and Cat’s homemade glutin-free extra divine chocolate cake, topped with raspberry purre, neapolitan ice cream and from-scratch whipped cream!

Buried Treasures March 10, 2009
Our suitcases look like buried treasures! Mine is overflowing with avindy jewelry nestled among ski gear and flannel pajamas. Mom’s is packed with avindy jewelry nestled among blue jeans and cowboy boots. Mom and I sure are going opposite directions this week! I am off to Vail for a trunk show at one of avindy’s most favorite stores and catalogs in the country – The Golden Bear. Mom is off to Serenbe, a pristine magnificent farm community with a quaint town of artist galleries, bakeries and boutiques in South Georgia. One of our favorite local boutiques, The Bilt House, is launching avindy at her new Serenbe boutique. The Golden Bear Trunk Show is Saturday March 14; The Bilt House at Serenbe trunk show is March 14-15, Saturday and Sunday.
Blog Debut “Take Two” March 6, 2009
TAKE TWO!
I’ve been kicking and screaming like a stubborn two year old over the last several years since mom and I started avindy - “I don’t wanna blog. I don’t need to blog. I won’t blog. I just won’t! Until one day, several months ago, I finally succumbed to the wise ones in my life and wrote my first blog on avindy.com. “Whew” I thought. “I did it! I’m done. Mission accomplished! “ But today I had an epiphany. “Oh yeah. I forgot. I am supposed to continue writing them, right? Ok fine. I get it and I’m on it …. seriously. The avindy blog will chronicle the creation of our fabulous handcrafted jewelry collections, where we derive our inspiration, what are the hip and funky fashion trends – do we like them or do we hate them? Was it a Ralph Lauren ad in Vogue magazine that planted the seed for a new color story or was it the messy pile of gemstones that landed on my desk after a studio spring clean? Was it an 80′s day on our XM radio or a Grateful Dead day because that could be the difference between hammered gold hoop earrings and a groovy oxidized silver diamond peace sign. No telling! In our historic loft studio in Atlanta, every day is an adventure. We hope you enjoy the ride!
